Tranquility in Taos
A Sacred Winter Retreat
You’re invited to join Tate Sutton for a wellness retreat in the sacred desert and mountains of Taos, New Mexico, for four cozy winter nights from February 10-14, 2027.
Surrounded by adobe walls, snow-covered peaks, glowing fireplaces, and the unmistakable spirit of Taos, we will slow down, gather close, and reconnect with the practices and people that bring warmth to our lives. Join us for grounding, culture, nourishment and renewal in the beautiful Southwest in the heart of winter.

Warmth, Grounding, and Renewal
Rather than rushing through the quieter season, we will allow it to ground us.
Our days will include gentle movement, nourishing meals, meaningful reflection, New Mexican culture, fireside conversation and time to explore one of the most beautiful and soulful towns in the Southwest.
Optional skiing and winter activities will be available for those who feel called to the mountain.
This retreat is an invitation to experience winter differently.
Winter isn’t empty ~
it’s a season of restoration, a season of listening, and a season of gathering close to what keeps us warm.

Why Taos?
Taos is a place shaped by mountains, high desert, art and centuries of living culture.
Its adobe buildings seem to rise directly from the earth. Its landscapes feel expansive and elemental. Indigenous, Hispanic and artistic traditions remain deeply woven into the identity of the region.
In winter, Taos becomes even more captivating.
Snow settles across the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Fires glow inside historic buildings. Bowls of red and green chile warm the table. The town moves at a gentler pace.
It is a destination that encourages us to notice more, consume less and return to what is essential.

During the retreat, our experiences tentatively include:
- Historic Taos Plaza
- Local galleries, artisan shops and museums
- A respectful cultural visit, subject to seasonal access
- The Rio Grande Gorge
- Snowshoe Walks
- Taos Ski Valley (additional cost for optional skiing)
- New Mexican restaurants and regional cuisine
- Scenic drives through the high desert
- Fireside evenings at our private retreat home
- Note: Experiences and timing may shift based on winter weather, road conditions, local availability, and respectful seasonal access

Warmth is not only something we find. It is something we create.

This is your invitation to pause, gather, and warm from within.

Another powerful thing that I took back with me was setting an intention to take a walk every morning with my dogs before work, and to drink a glass of water first thing in the morning to reduce cortisol. This allowed my body to set up for success first thing ecery day and has improved my sleep quality, increased my daily step average by 2,000 steps, and decreased my overall stress levels.

Q: Can I come alone?
Yes, and we welcome it! Many of our guests come solo and find it to be one of the most empowering, connective, and fulfilling experiences. You’ll feel a part of the community from the very beginning. Reserve a space in the shared twin loft, or you can reserve a private space to enjoy by yourself.

As someone who does not enjoy being cold either, I am intentionally designing the experience around helping us stay comfortable while still enjoying the magic of Taos in winter. You will also receive a detailed winter packing guide before the retreat.

I created Tranquility in Taos because I wanted to offer a retreat that feels different from anything else on the Sacred Retreats calendar. This is not a week of rushing from one activity to the next.
It is an invitation to gather in a beautiful home, eat warming food, move gently, explore an extraordinary part of the country and experience the kind of connection that becomes possible when we slow down.
I imagine mornings with coffee and tea by the fire, afternoons surrounded by adobe and snow, bowls of soup passed around the table and evenings spent sharing stories by the fire under the New Mexican sky.
Whether you spend our mountain day skiing, wandering through the village or reading beside the fire, there will be space for you here.
With gratitude and light,
Tate
