Why Moonlight & Magic?
There is something about October that has always felt a little magical to me.
The evenings arrive earlier. Candles get lit. The air changes. We gather closer to the fire, cook warmer meals, notice the moon a little more, and begin turning inward after the brightness of summer.
And I wanted to create an evening that celebrates that feeling.
Moonlight & Magic is my little love letter to autumn, to female friendship, to intuition, and, with a playful nod to one of my favorite kinds of fall nostalgia, to the world of Practical Magic.
Because beneath all the potions, herbs, candles, tarot cards and midnight margaritas is something I think is actually very real: the magic that happens when women gather.
There is magic in sitting around a table together. In moving our bodies by candlelight. In making something with our hands. In pulling a card and letting it make us think. In writing down something we’ve carried long enough and finally tossing it into the fire.
There is magic in a beautiful meal, in an unexpected conversation, in laughing until your stomach hurts, in dancing in the kitchen with a margarita in your hand.
And there is magic in learning to trust yourself.
So this isn’t really a Halloween party, it’s a four-hour autumn mini retreat built around connection, creativity, movement, intuition, ritual and play.
We’ll practice yoga as the sun goes down. We’ll explore the quieter voice of our own intuition. We’ll visit the tarot table, build botanical intention cauldrons from an old-world apothecary of herbs and flowers, share an autumn supper, gather around the fire under the full moon to release something we’re ready to leave behind, and then turn the music up for Midnight Margaritas.
Some of it will be meaningful. Some of it will be beautiful.
And some of it will simply be ridiculously fun.
Because I think adulthood could use a little more wonder.
A little more gathering for no reason other than being together.
A little more permission to play.
And maybe, every now and then, a little practical magic.
With gratitude and light,
Tate
